Aphrodite-

• Goddess of love and beauty
• Was created by the ocean on a cushion of foam
• Had an affair with Ares but her husband was Hephaestus
• Mother of Cupid

Apollo-

• Twin brother of Artemis
• God of the sun and music
• Supposedly had the golden glow of the sun
• Created the lyre

Ares-

• God of war
• Had an affair with Aphrodite
• His symbols are a burning torch and spear

Artemis-

• Goddess of the hunt
• Vowed never to marry
• Twin of Apollo
• Supposedly glowed with the sliver glow of the moon

Athena-

• Goddess of stragety, arts and crafts, and wisdom
• Daughter of Zeus
• Was born out of Zeus' head
• Athens was named after her

Hades-

• Ruler of the underworld
• Husband to Persephone
• God of wealth
• A sacred fruit to him is the pomegranate

Hephaestus-

• God of the forge and fire
• Married to Aphrodite
• Hera threw him off Mount Olympus when he was a baby
• He was lame

Hera-

• Goddess of marraige
• Wife/sister of Zeus
• Her symbols are the cow, cuckoo, and the peacock

Hermes-

• Son of Zeus
• God of theives
• Messenger of the Gods
• Was the fastest god with his winged sandals

Hestia-

• Goddess of hearth and home
• A very homey goddess
• Sister of Zeus, Hades, Poseidon and more
• Each city had a hearth especially devoted to Hestia

Poseidon-

• God of the Seas
• Brother of Zeus
• His weapon is a trident that he shakes, and it can cause earthquakes
• Is somehow associated with the creation of the horse

Zeus-

• King of all gods and goddesses
• God of the Sky
• His symbols are the eagle and lightening bolts
• His is the sister of his wife, Hera
